Melet Plastics Expands its Engineering Capabilities with FEA.

We are pleased to announce that Melet Plastics recently purchased ALGOR, a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software package, to expand our part design and engineering capabilities. FEA software calculates the strength and stiffness of a part by analyzing the 3D CAD model geometry and the properties of the specified material. This technology will help us evaluate the performance of our plastic part designs, and identify potential problem areas before reaching the prototyping stage.

Finite Element Analysis works by breaking down complex part shapes into many tiny bricks (elements). It can then apply simple engineering calculations to all of the elements to determine how much stress and deflection occurs in each element as a result of the loads applied to the part. If the results indicate that the limits of the material are being exceeded, we can make engineering changes to improve its performance and then repeat the analysis. This iterative analysis process allows our engineering team to optimize product designs and minimize project lead times.

When combined with our powerful flow analysis and warpage analysis capabilities, the addition of FEA allows Melet to continue to be Leaders in Engineering Plastic Solutions.
